CFIM Supports One Family Fund
The Canadian Friends of the Israel Museum (CFIM) sponsored a special day at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, on December 15th, for victims of terror and their families.
The CFIM helped to fulfill the mandate of One Family Fund by bringing together for a meaningful experience, people who have suffered through terrorist attacks.
At the Museum that day, sixty children and adults from the town of S'derot saw the wonders of art come to life through workshops, guided tours and a Chanukah performance. Representing the CFIM were Will and Linda Hechter of Toronto and Jane and Martin Gordon of Ottawa.
"While we cannot match the Sderot residents' artistic talents, the crafts we created with them and brought back with us will always remind us of the courage of these special people," remarked the Gordons.
The highlight of the program was the Chanukah candle- lighting ceremony, where Museum director James Snyder personally welcomed all in attendance.
"It was very moving and meaningful to spend Chanukah at the Israel Museum with the courageous families from S'derot," remarked CFIM National Board member Will Hechter. "They have been on the front line for Jews everywhere and it was an honour to light the Chanukiah with them." The Hechter's annual gift in memory of Will's grandmother, Betty Rose Guberman, provides "Free Admission" to the Museum for Israeli children each year, during Chanukah. The CFIM seeks to provide high quality, unique educational events and cultural programs across Canada. We invite you to participate in our events and Annual Partnership initiative. For further information please contact Chaia Nadal, CFIM National Director at 416-901-2231 or cfim@rogers.com.
