We are delighted to announce our trip to Brazil – September 2 – 6, 2014, to enjoy the 31st Sao Paulo Biennale together with Israel Museum Chief of Exhibition Design, Oren Sagiv – designer of this year’s Sao Paulo Bienalle and one of Biennale’s curators.
Our trip begins on September 2, with our traditional welcome reception hosted by Ivoncy and Evelyn Ioschpe, President of the Brazilian Friends, at their penthouse home with spectacular views of the Ibirapuera Park.
On September 3, we will visit the Biennale before its opening to the general public presented in Oscar Niemeyer’s especially-designed Biennale Pavilions. Our tour will be guided by Oren, together with IMJ Director James Snyder.
Then, on September 4-5, we will make an overnight excursion to the magnificent Centro de Arte Contemporânea Inhotim. Located in the State of Minas Gerais, the Center features 5,000 acres of gardens and two dozen contemporary art pavilions, including over 500 works by noted Brazilian and international artists such as Mathew Barney, Olafur Eliasson, Anish Kapoor, Yayoi Kusama, Cildo Meirelles, and Adriana Varejão.
We will conclude our program back in São Paulo with Shabbat Dinner hosted by Moise and Chella Safra at their beautiful home.
We look forward to having you with us for this very special art occasion, bringing the talents of our Israel Museum “home” to Brazil!
